Start with serving size, not the nutrient list
Before you read a single milligram, find the serving size line above the nutrient table. It tells you whether the numbers below apply to one tablet, two capsules or a scoop. Almost every misleading product comparison happens because someone compared a per-tablet figure against a per-serving figure. A one-a-day tablet and a two-capsule formula are not comparable until both are normalized to a day.
Write your daily serving at the top of a sheet of paper — one tablet, two capsules, three — and keep it there for the whole comparison. When a label says "serving size: 2 capsules", every figure below is the pair, not the single capsule. Get this line right first and the rest of the panel becomes readable.
A formula that looks cheaper per capsule may simply deliver less per serving. The serving line is the only correct denominator, so it is the first number worth writing down.
